Lincoln/Mercury Repair: mercury sable, mercury sable, temperature guage

i own a 95 mercury sable. it has always ran well and been kept up but i have noticed in the last few weeks that it seems to be burning oil and the engine has a tick. It once even sounded like a knocking. It also shows the temperature guage at high but the engine never over heats and when you check the antifreeze it is full. I don't know alot about cars and i find most garages in my area will take advantade of that fact if you let them so i thought maybe i could get an idea before i take it anywhere. Thank you.

when you take it to a shop tell them to tighten the valve covers and that eill cost no more tan 30 dollors and to change the oil and do a eng flush to eng. get rid of the ticking . everything 100 dollors . good luck to u hun and if u need more help please let me know and u have a pretty name please rate my serivice pete
