Toyota Repair: 1985 22re 4runner shakey idle, digital multimeter, vacuum hose

Question
Hi Ted, big fan here.  I'll start by saying i'm no slouch with 22re mech/efi. I've performed all efi diagnostics via a digital multimeter per FSM. I built the long block along with machining from a reputable NAPA shop(problem not mechanical). tested all ECS components directly, and at ECU pins. Its the shakey idle. there are a couple things. Solenoid resister ohms at 3.5  book says 2-3 ohms, however pins 10 & 20 at ECU for injector banks show within spec. and I have a FSM for 93 22re and it gives hot and cold values for the dizzy signal generator.  my 85 FSM only shows one value(hot or cold, I don't know). And my signal generator ohms out fine when cold, but too high when hot. any insight as to these 2 issues?

Answer
The signal generator or rpm pickup coil won't cause a rough idle, if they fail the engine won't run at all, it sounds to me like there may be an intake system leak or possibly a stuck or sticking egr valve, check the vacuum at idle it should be about 18 hhmg. Check the egr valve with a vacuum pump for proper operation, recheck all of the vacuum hose routings, the diagram is in your manual.
