Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 1994 COUGAR, head gaskets, head gasket

YOU HAVE BEEN A BIG HELP IN TH PAST SO HERE GOES
MY SONS 1994 COUGAR WITH A 3.8 APPARENTLY HAS A BAD HEAD GASKET. THE STEAM IS BLOWING OUT THE EXAUST AND RUNS OUT OF ANTIFREEZE QUICKLY.
THE CAR HAS 124000 MILES
A BRAND NEW TRANNY NEW FRONT SUSPENSION AND NEW BRAKES.
MY SON DOESNT KNOW WETHER IT PAYS TO FIX IT, THE MECHANIC SAID AROUND $ 800.00 IS THAT ABOUT RIGHT OR IS THERE A LOT MORE THAT CAN GO WRONG WHEN THEY OPEN IT UP.
HE DID NOT SAY IF IT IS 1 SIDE OR BOTH.

this is a norm shop price to be honest both head gaskets should be done they will not find to much wroang as long as the car was not over heated it sounds to me like the car is woth it u have put a lot of money in the car. as long as it drives good and the body is good . i would talk to the mech. who is doing the work and for both sides tell him 1300 he as it torn down any way . please rate my serivice pete
