Mazda Repair: 2000 mazda protege, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump relay

Question
Hi: I have a 2000 Mazda Protege. This is a starter issue, I drive the car about 40 minutes and the car runs fine. (its in the high 80s weather wise). I stop and the car sits for for about 20 minutes then try to restart it, it turns over but does not start. I have replaced the plugs to no avail. Today I took it to a Madza dealer they said they duplicated the problem and recommended a fuel pump, fuel pump relay and a fuel pressure regulator. All totaled $1100.00. I find it odd that these 3 parts could simulationiously break. Do you think they are just covering themselves with this shotgun approach?
Thanks

Answer
it's odd that they'd go to that extreme off the bat with-out checking the little things

a cloged air filter or fuel filter could cause the problem check the little things first and go from there.

a faulty evap system could also be the reasoning there's a number of things it could be when your dia a hot no start problem.

i can't see it being related to the fuel pump or the other components mazda suggests replacing.
if you get it running and it stays running right there you can assume the fuel pump and the relay is ok. posible the regualor could be the cause but i'd start small meaning filters.
