I think my ac compressor is getting ready to go.  On this year of Mazda, will the car run without the ac compressor or does it run off of a surpentine belt?

the ac runs off the belt the car will still run if the ac goes however if it's siezed the belts will wear quicker. you can remove the ac from the car completely and install a smaller belt however you have to do an ac recovery to remover the compressor unit. and also to replace it with a new one you have to do an ac recovery and recharge the system for it to work again. don't just undo the unit it's filled with refigerant and it's and large fine for releasing it into the air and it can also blind you or freeze burn your skin
