Mazda Repair: B2200 fuel pump problems, fuel delivery system, mazda b2200

Question
QUESTION: I have a 92 Mazda b2200,reg cab,automatic.The fuel pump is bad.It skips,and has no power.I changed fuel filters,no differance.
The gas in the tank is very red,and rusted. So,i am assuming the pump is ruined.I installed a "used" pump, from another truck like mine, and it lasted about 4 hours, then the same thing,,rough idling, skipping no power,,etc. It worked pretty good for about 4 hours.I know this pump was good, for it worked in the other truck.

Can i install a used fuel pump into a truck, and will they work??.Some say,no,others say sure.
I cant afford a new pump,,so can you let me know what i am doin g wrong?....And can i try putting another pump into my tank?...again??..I am going to clean out the tank this time first....so all the rust is gone. Can i just install the "used" pump, and use my same sending unit? Are there other problems i can look for.I checked the regulater at the fuel rail, thats good...relay is good. Are there any other relays ,,that i need to check?....Would it be in my computer?.......
This is a fuel injected truck.

ANSWER: have the tank cleaned really good. and you should only use the pump manufactured for your truck if not you may have the wrong fuel delivery and pressure for your truck but using a used pump is fine as long as it's for your type of truck. if it's fuel injected it could be the injectors themselfs being clogged, i can't see it being computer related they hardly ever go wrong. those would be were i'd start it could be any part or the fuel delivery system or even the ignition system. start with the simple stuff and follow the service manual for proper testing of the systems

QUESTION: Ok,,,,,,Thanks.
Ill clean the tank out as good as i can.I have another fuel pump ,that is for this type of truck. The pump i installed was off of a 93 extra cab,,,,,,,,,,,,,would that be a problem?..Mines a 92 reg cab.Would it be any differance,in power,,and deliverance?

Ill try the one i got for my truck,,and let you know.
If it goes bad after a few hours, then what?
Anyway..........ill let you know.
I thank you very much for your advise!

Answer
when i said make sure the pump is for your truck i meant the engine application as long as the motors in the truck where the same size and with-in the same model year it'll be fine. you'll have to check the injector pulse and fuel pressure to make sure there a signal to the injectors and that the fuel is reaching them
