Mazda Repair: 87 Mazda starter problem, neutral safety switch, mazda 323

I have a 87 Mazda 323 DX 1.6 liter wagon.  The starter keeps cranking even when the key is off and out of the ignition.  I had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop & when I try to reconnect it the cranking starts again even with the keys in the house on the bookshelf.  Is replacing the starter the answer?

it's more then likely the relay or neutral safety switch you have continuose power going to the starter check the wiring that it's not grounding out somewhere first i don't have a wiring diagram for your car but you should only have power to the main power wire to the starter when ingition off and power to the other large wire when it's in the run position
