Mazda Repair: water pouring from what seems to be behind crank shaft pulley, coolant hoses, crank pulley

i had problems with overheating months ago and a mechanic told me that because my miata was a 91, that the root cause was a defective short nose on the shaft...however i have determined that i do not have the shorter bolt according to my vin #. Recently I have overheated and water will not stay in radiator, but pours out from behind the crank pulley. Could this be a seal, hose,etc., etc.? would like to get some ideas before taking it to be repaired. I have been misguided by several mechanics throughout the years.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Right no crankshaft issue with 1991 and newer, sounds like someone was attempting to lead you astray again.  By the description you give your front seal on the water pump has failed.  This requires a new water pump.  Normally I recommend Mazda pumps however for '90-93 they no longer offer new ones only rebuilds and they are not good quality.  We stock new non Mazda pumps that are well proven if you can't find one locally.  In addition to the pump if you have not had the timing belt replaced recently or you are approaching a 60k service interval then it is the time to replace it.  In addition if you have had the coolant leak for some time then the coolant will have adversely affected other common wear items in this area that should be considered for replacement.  Idler & tensioner bearings (2), camshaft seals (2), crankshaft seal, cover gaskets (4).  On top of those parts a new alternator belt, PS/AC belt, thermostat and housing gasket.  Coolant hoses should be inspected and replaced with Mazda hoses if due.  Again these are common wear parts.  The Mazda parts go the distance so stick with Mazda not after market and you can expect to see another 20 years of use.
