Mazda Repair: cooling fans/thermostat, mazda miata mx5, miata mx5

Question
The cooling fan on my Mazda miata Mx5 does not come on The one on the left goes while engine is running, but the one on the right does not come on at all. Also after changing the thermostat  there's is slight sepage on the bottom of the housing, I have taken it off and on several times and always the same results.  Buy the way the car does not overheat the gauge stays about halfway except when the air is on for about ahalf hour I do live in the hinges of Hell in Las Vegas Nv and it gets pretty hot here  Thank You And will be waiting tohere from you Thanks again Brad

Answer
Not sure of your year model but, this applies to the Miata, The driver's fan is the main cooling fan which by itself cycles on and off with temperature as needed.  The passenger side fan is the condenser (AC) fan, it cycles on with the compressor.  When the AC is on both fans will operate in unison and will cycle with the compressor.

12 volt fan motors have a given life expectancy and furthermore they reside in a hot climate behind the radiator so failure seems to occur from 80-120k or 12-15 years.  Use Mazda parts and you will be sure to get the same use out of the new one.
