Mazda Repair: no gas or spark on 91 Miata, jumper wire, fuel delivery

Question
I was driving with no sign of any problem. The gas cut off and now the car will not start, still turns over. I bought a fuel filter, but cannot locate where the filter goes. I saw an answer that shows how to get to the fuel pump, but not the filter. I don't hear the pump kick in though.

Answer
The filter is under the car, passenger side rear in front of  the suspension.  Before you begin dismantling the car, unhook the fuel delivery line at the intake route it into a catch can, place a jumper wire from F/P to GND in the diagnostics block under the hood on the driver's side, turn on the key and see if you have fuel flow.  If no flow then listen for clicking from the pump relay under the dash drivers side.  No fuel flow + clicking = bad pump.
