Mazda Repair: mazada 929, electrical functions, gas tank

Question
My car will not run. The battery is new the electrical functions all work when I put the key in but when I turn the key to start the engine it won't start. It makes all the usual noises but it seems as if it's not getting gas to crank over. I'm told it could be my fuel filter or my fuel pump. How could i check these if they are the problem an what are your suggestions?

Answer
check the common things a car needs to start. spark is  easy to test you can simply remove a spark plug from the motor and with the help of a friend ground the plug to the manifold as someone turns the motor over look for spark. the fuel pump is also easy with the help of a friend have them turn the car to the run position and listen for a hum coming from the gas tank if you have all that have the starter inspected
