Mazda Repair: 1993 Mazada transmission problems, cv joints, clutch pressure plate

Question
I have a 1993 Mazada Protege DX with a 5 speed standard transmission. While driving down the highway at 60 mph in 5 gear the car jump up like running over a object in the road and lost all the gears. Had the car towed home. Check the linkage and all is ok. The car has 185,000 miles. Replace clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing at 100,000 miles. The engine start up and runs ok. How can I check to see if my problem is clutch or something else.

Answer
It is possible that one of the axles or CV joints is damaged. Hopefully this is the case. If not, then you are probably in need of a new transmission or major transmission repairs. Inspect the axles. It is possible for an axle to bread around the splines, so you may need to remove the axles to inspect them. I would not suspect a clutch problem.
