Mazda Repair: 2002 mazda tribute check engine light, mazda tribute, dpfe sensor

hi chris,

i have a 2002 mazda tribute and the check engine light is on, i had the code read and it stated that the egr valve is the problem.  i took it apart and found very little carbon buildup in the ports and the valve when sucking on the stem moved fairly well....

any idea's???

Hi Attila thanks for asking
I dont know about where you are but where i am there are recalls out on some models for the DPFE sensor. This sensor is in assistance with the EGR valve wich may give a false code, check with Mazda on recals for this vehicle. But if is not I would check the sensor anywasys because all of these have had to be replaced, ford actualy makes this engine and they have the same problem on most of there older line up of vehicles. If this isnt it get back to me and i will get you more information.
