Mazda Repair: Clutch installation, mazda protoge, tie rod ends

Question
I have 94 Mazda Protoge 1.8 SOHC and need to replace clutch?

Answer
Ok, I'm not sure what your question is, but I can at least give you some advice. If you are mechanically inclined, and you want to change the clutch yourself, then you will need to remove, the motor and trans-axle assembly from the engine compartment. In some cases the motor / trans-axle can be separated and the clutch changed with the engine still partially installed. However, it is more common to have to remove the engine and tranny. A new clutch kit will cost you about $120.00. You should also purchase 2 new output shaft seals. Also, make sure that you have access to, and the ability to change, the tie rod ends and ball joints since it is sometimes possible to damage these parts.

If you want to have someone else do the work, expect to pay about $400.00.
