Mazda Repair: 01 mazda tribune timing belt marks, timing belt tensioner, new hope pa

Question
I'm putting a replacement timing belt on a 2001 mazda tribune dx w/a 2.0
engine and was hoping to clear up a few questions i had. First, are there
marks on the outside of the cam gears or are they on the valve cover side?
Second, what part on that squarish looking mark on the bottom(crank) do i
line the pulley mark up with? It's not quite a square and am not sure where to
point the line at. I was told there are special tools required to align the cam
sprockets, but there has to be a way around that.

thanks,
