Mazda Repair: clock spring replacement, wheel and tires, clock spring

Question
How do you replace a clock spring or spiral spring on a 95 mazda 626?  thanks

Answer
not sure why your changing it,  haven't seen many go bad'  but here's how anyway. 1  very important  unless you want an airbag blowing off in your face!  disconect neg battery cable, wait 1 min, unscrew the 10mm bolts behind the steering wheel, pull off air bag modual, disconect the connectors, these airbag connectors are tricky to un-hook also.. you do the orange one first then the blue, center shaft you will see a 21mm  nut, unscrew it but not all the way out, rock the steering wheel back and forth untill it comes off,( leaving the nut on a lil keeps it from hitting you in the face when it comes loose!) unscrew the upper and lower cowlings, you will now see 3 gold colored philip screws, unscrew them. now go under the dash and find the harness to the clock spring and related connectors, un-plug all those,  also,  make sure the wheel and tires are facing stright. should slide off now. be really carefull putting in the new one cause the white plastic notch thingy has to line up with the housing or it will bind or break when you install it
