Mazda Repair: no fire 92 2600i, dsm cars, steam truck

Question
History. I bought this truck, beause the ecm needed repair, it wouldnt start. Coil went out 3 months ago. 1 month ago head gasket blew, blowing radiator upper tank, lots steam. Truck died. I decided to rebuild, put engine back in, and no spark, looked at new coil, and it had melted plastic coming out the rear, so they gave me anouther. Still no spark. Checked fuses and all wire connections. Seams to be getting fuel, but i will check injectors to verify working today. Do not have good diagnostic manual for this truck.

Answer
Sorry for your bad string of luck with this truck.
You should do CV joints in the front too before you get stuck in a situation.

The 2600 has 3 things that stand out in its list of gremlins.

Poor oil pump design,
Disastrous computer design "DSM cars do this too"
And Shoddy distributors.

I would bet money that if you replace the distributor and the igniter that this will cure the last of your problems.
However, if you got an ecm that is somewhat screwed from  the rebuilder the spark would go away as well as the fuel due to the way the ignition system is triggered by the computer.

Go out to the rear of the truck and listen to the fuel tank while someone keys the truck on. It should have a short whir when you first key on "priming pump" and a continuous whir when cranking. Then buy or borrow a tool known as a noid light. This will show you if the injectors are firing evenly. By plugging the noid light in to an injector and plugging the harness into the noid light it will show you if the ECM is firing the injectors. Then move on to the distributor which I have replaced on 7 trucks and 5 MPV's in the past 2 years. Make sure you replace the igniter too when you replace the distributor it is mounted next to the coil.
