Mercedes: CLK320 sound system, audio circuits, radio unit

Question
Hi my 98' CLK's CD player is not working anymore, I want to replace the radio but I know with some mercs the sound system is integrated with amps located else where in the car.  For this car can I just replace the radio unit with a harness and antenna converter?  Also is there an easy way to hook up a sub and amp in the boot, i.e. easy access to power and the speaker outputs somewhere in there?

Answer
Edwin,
I would suggest you contact an aftermarket audio installer, as they will be best set up to advise you about the type of replacement radio. The blaupunke? OEM stuff is pretty good, so if your speakers are still OK, I would recommend you keep that setup and ad on.  The radio sit in a socket and is removable using key wires.
They will also be able to to advise about the power locations in the trunk for additional audio. The radio may be involved with the security system and you will certainly need to take that into account when doing any cut in to the audio circuits.
Sorry I do not know more.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck
Robert
