Mazda Repair: A/C, 1995 mazda millenia, mazda millenia

Chris,
 I have a 1995 Mazda Millenia with a 2.5 engine, automatic. When we kick the air conditioner on the rpm's don't jump up like they should and the car wants to die and will die occasionally. Does this car have what they call a kick up valve and if so what is the proper name for it?  Do you think that is my problem? I appreciate the help, this car has been a headache from the day I got it.

Hi tyler thanks for asking,
I know these cars have been a headache for everbody that owns one. If there is so much drag in the engine when you turn the AC on then I would have the pupm looked at, it may be starting to seize up or there is a possible over charge in the system.
