Mazda Repair: 2004 Mazda MPV, automatic transmission fluid, 2004 mazda mpv

Question
How do I change the automatic transmission fluid?
Where is the drain and fill/inspection hole located?
I'm thinking about using synthetic fluid. Do you recommend a particular brand?
Vehicle has 30,000 miles.

I'm thinking about buyng a speed6. Opinions?

Answer
Hi Bernd thanks for asking
the drain plug is directly on the bottom of the transmission. remove that plug with the dipstick out of its tube. That allows air in the transmissoin to ease out the fluid. There is no check plug there is a dip stick to check the fluid. I think it takes 4 liters, start with 3 and keep cheking it while adding the 4th bottle. The thing with synthetic oil, when you start to use it you should never go back to normal fluid. There is nothing wrong with the normal fluid i prefer to use it anyways. If you do your regular service you will never see a problem.
Good luck
