Mazda Repair: Engine died, mazda protege, luck chris

Question
I have a 92 Mazda Protege. It was running fine, then I started it the other day and drove about a 1/4 mile and the engine just shut off while driving. The check engine light is on. I checked the timing belt and it is OK. It has no spark. I just replaced the ignitor (ICM), with no luck. It just cranks.

Any ideas would be helpful.
I was a Toyota mechanic years ago, I don't know Mazda's very well.

Hi mark thanks for asking
 Have you tried installing a whole new distributor, that is the only things that solve the problems on these cars they where bad for distributors, But first check the main fuse for the engine that also may have poped, Ive seen that a coule of times as well
