Mercedes Benz repair: Idel issue 71 280 SL, best bet, compression test

I have a 1971 280 SL. It's not driven much! When the motor reaches running temp it doesn't want to idle,it will shut off as soon as it starts. It will restart immediately. HELP!!

your best bet is do a compression test first in each cylinder. Make sure all comp is good. Otherwise you may have a faulty ground switch or something off your temp . check your thermostat and replace check that your sensor is also connected that controls your temperature gauage
