Mercedes Benz repair: Mercedes 380SL 1985, mercedes 380sl, engine coolant

Question
Just bought car.  It has no manual.  How do you turn on the heater?  I'm freezing!

Answer
The cars engine has to be at normal operation temperature !st Irene. If the vehicle does not get hot because of the thermostat having been removed or no engine hot engine coolant reaching the heater core ( This is a small type radiator behind the dash). You will not have heater. Normally the control unit is place with the dials on the red section which means that you would roll them down and them press the button that to you might look like a V with dashes. this should activate the switching of the heater valve with opens and allows the heated coolant to enter the heater core.

Note verify that the heater core has not been bypassed as sometimes when they leak. instead of repairing them some people opt to bypass rather them expense of repair. I would hope that this is not your case . As from what I gather it get cold there.
