Mercedes Benz repair: 1987 mercedes 190 E 2.3 L, pivot pin, pin puller

Question
How does one remove the timing chain guide pivot pin in the head.  I know it is threaded and there are two groved slots in the shaft.  Screwing into the head and trying to tap it out has been fruitless.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.   john
