Mercedes Benz repair: repair, fuel system components, fuel pump relay

Question
i started my 300e 1989 running fine then a block down the road it died. it felt like i ran out of gas but, have full tank. where should i start?

Answer
The first thing I would recommend is buying a service manual (even a $20 Haynes manual from autozone would be good) and that will give you at the very least, a location of all the fuel system components. The first thing I would check is the fuel pump. You will need to locate the fuel pump, have some turn the ignition into the on position and keep your hand on the pump to see if it turns on. Most MB fuel pumps will activate for a few seconds to pressurize the system prior to starting the vehicle.
You will also need to check the fuel pump relay and fuse.

Those are the most common causes of that type of problem. If those are all working properly, you will need to take it to a certified MB technician for proper diagnosis.

Hope this helps and let me know what you find out.
