QuestionI have a 1986 Mercedes Benz 420 sel. The car cannot go foward when I shift to drive but, the car can go in reverse. My question is, what is preventing my car to not go forward. Is it a possiblity that the brakes locked? Can you respond pls to my question soon as possible.
AnswerIf you believe it is a brake issue, then place the car in neutral, jack up the front and then the rear end and see if you can spin the wheels by hand. If you cannot, then you could have a brake problem. If you can spin them, your problem will most likely be in the transmission. I would recommend you take it to the dealership for further diagnosis.
