Mercedes Benz repair: AC Blower does not work on high status, number search results, cabin filter

Question
Hello, my AC is no longer has high/max feature. It only reaches medium air flow.  I recently went to a garage and I was advised it was my air modulator (only a switch) and that it would cost $900.. Is this true? I have a 1997 E320.. This car has been maintained perfectly but I can't understand why this much for a switch/fuse..Please help.

If you have not replaced all of the ACC Cabin Filters, this could be your major issue.
When they begin to grow mold, the blower speed drops drastically.
