Mercedes Benz repair: 1975 280e starting, pebble beach concours d elegance, engine cranks

Question
Mileage is high and compression is a touch on the low side across the board but not so much that it would be an issue. Car actaully started easier than my brand new Ford until the point at which it stopped running.

And no spark.

Question -
I have a 1975 280e that ran fine until it suddenly stopped at a traffic light. It was as if the key had simply been turned off. It now will not start at all althought engine cranks fine and fuel is reaching the engine. Ignition Control unit has been replaced and still the car will not start. What could it be?

Answer -
How many miles?
Is there spark?
Compression test needed to verify it has not jumped time.

Answer
Best advice:
Replace the ignition system with a "Pertronix" unit.
The old breaker point system is junk by todays standard.
The "Pertronix" unit installs inside the distributor cap = even award wining cars from Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance, Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance and Palo Alto Concours D'Elegance
have this system installed.

The install should take roughly one hour + you may use any ignition coil you choose after the change.
