Mercedes Benz repair: what to buy ?, mercedes benz, w126

I now drive a 1998 olds 88 (180,000 mi)It is about due for replacement. I need a large car for my size and for the fact that I drive 50 mi a day  (h-way ) I do maintain my car on a regular basis. This olds that I now drive has had the usual GM 3800 problems ( upper & lower man. FPR etc.)Milage has been good and driveability is great. What would you replace this car with if you were looking for something to last for another 200,ooo mi ? I would buy used only and I am not opposed to diesels mer.

Tough question.

These are my personal picks.

1985 W126 300SD Mercedes-Benz under 160K miles from the south or west.
W123 Sedans, 280E under 100K or a 300D Turbodiesel 1982-85 under 160K.
Do NOT consider any MB 1991 - 1995, they had major wire issues.

Any Cadillac or Lincoln 1960 - 1975 under 100K miles, or 1999 + model below 60K miles.
