Mercedes Benz repair: 1999 mb 500sl console lighting, window switches, control seat

Question
when I turn on the exterior lights, the console lighting below the a/c control (seat heater switches, p/window switches, radio light and gear indicator lights) do not light.  Why not?  Please help. ps- the dash lighting (speedo, clock, other lights work}

the lighting for your console is shot due to a faulty wire from the turn dial switch remove the switch and check your console lighting and see which ones it is use a multimeter you will find out where your short is ..chances are the console lighting harness may be bad.
