Mercedes Benz repair: Diesel 2.2 contiuing to run, mercedes benz 190d, vacuum line

Question
I have a 1985 Mercedes Benz 190D with a 2.2 diesel engine (224,540 Miles). I put new glow plugs in the engine and now the car will not shut off when you turn the key off. You have to use the manual shut off lever to stop the engine. What is causing this and what can I do to stop. I tried disconnecting the negitive post on the battery and the car still runs. Thanks.

Answer
Very common issue:
The vacuum line going to your injection pump shut off valve is pulled loose or broken.
Gently trace each vacuum line going to driver side of engine.
Splice the break or reattach if dislodged from connector.

Have a great day.
