Mercedes Benz repair: Turn Signal Flasher on an 82 300SD, mercedes benz 300sd, hazard flasher

Question
Mr. Hunter,

My friend recently bought a 82 300 SD (126.120) that has turn
signal problems.  The flashers work intermittently--both sides.
When switched on, the lights just stay on and won't flash.

Does the flasher relay sound like the problem?  If so, where is
the relay located?

Thanks for patiently answering all of my dumb questions.

Answer
The most common problem on a W126 300SD is the hazard light switch, you can clean it with caution or buy a new one.
If the relay is bad, it is behind the instrument cluster, to the left of center, you will need to buy or make special tools for removing the instrument cluster.
