Mercedes Benz repair: 1989 560 sec stalling- Mercedes, fuel pump relay, leak fuel

Question
Sir, Every so often my check engine light comes on very breifly and the car tries to stall when driving or idling. Sometimes it will stall when stopped at traffic light, but will start right back up and be fine for a while then do same later. I just started smelling fuel frm time to time, but notice no leaks. I believe a valve connected to the injection system is at fault, what do you think?
Appreciate any help,
Jeff
