Mercedes Benz repair: clunking, suspension issues, driveshaft

Question
i have a 1988 190 automatic. when i start to accellerate, there is a clunking from under the car. if i let up completely on gas and try again, it sometimes goes away. also, i can just try to drive through it, but that doesnt seen too healthy. on the highway, if i hit a big bump, i can feel the rumble momentarily. any ideas? thanks
john

Answer
Which 190 do you have?
190D 2.5
190D 2.5 Turbo
190E 2.3
190E 2.6

Steering/suspension issues are possible.
My guess from the way you describe it is:
Possible Bad:
#1. Flex disk.
#2. Transmission mount.
#3. Driveshaft Support Brg.
#4. Driveshaft Bushing.
#5. C.V. Joint.
#6. Subframe Mount.

It can be a combination of these also.
With your possible issues, you need to take the car to a Mercedes garage for inspection soonest.
