Mercedes Benz repair: lost oil cap-can I drive?, oil cap, ml320

Question
This might be a dumb question but today I was putting oil in my car (MB ML320) and I dropped the oil cap in the engine somewhere.  I tried driving around on my street hoping it would fall out but...nothing.  I guess what I want to know is it okay to drive this (even to the dealer for new one) without the oil cap?

Hmmm.
As I recall, there is a tray mounted under the engine.
A 1/4 drive ratchet and 10 mm deep socket will remove the fasteners.
Lower the tray and you should find the missing cap.
Total time ten minutes.

You can drive without the cap, but it will spew oil, and there is some risk of road trash getting in the engine.
