GM-GMC: 1970 Chevy Step side bwindow replacement, vent window, window channels

Question
I have a 1970 step side and am trying to put the side windows back in after body work.  Can't seem to fit it in correctly, any ideas?
Thanks!

Answer
One of the most aggravating jobs there is!

The only information I have comes from a full size van repair manual covering 1967 to 1986.  This is disassembly and reassembly is the reverse of removal.  This also assumes that your body work did NOT alter the doors where the window channels and regulator fit:

1. Lower the glass to the bottom of the door and remove trim panel.
2. Remove the door vent/window channel run assembly.  Cover any sharp edges with masking tape to prevent scratching the glass.
3. Slide the glass forward until the front roller is in line with the notch in the sash channel.
4. Disengae the roller from the channel.
5. Push the window forward, then tilt it up until the rear roller is disengaged.
6. Place the window in a level position, and raise it striaght up and out of the door.

I remember a monumental fight with the vent window assembly on my 84 K-2500.  Good luck.
