Mercedes Benz repair: Car Not Starting, reputable repair facility, ann craig

Question
I have a 98 E320 Mercedes with a little over 120,000 miles.  Recently, my husband and I went out to eat dinner about 20-25 minutes away from our apartment.  When we arrived at the restaurant, my husband dropped me off at the door of the restaurant and he went to park the car.  As he was pulling into a parking space, a person got out of their car right next to the parking spot.  He paused so they could get out of their car.  When he did this, the car died and he could not get it to restart.  He had to manually push the car into the parking spot.  We looked and looked under the hood to see if there could be a problem and couldn't.  We went in and ate at the restaurant, we thought we would have to call a car rental, but came out of the restaurant and the car started right up.  As a result, we decided to go have the car checked out.  We spent almost $600.  I drove about 20-25 minutes back to our apartment, stopping first to get gas.  After I filled up, the car would not crank. My husband was out of town, and I had to leave the car at the gas pump.  When he got back into town late that evening, we went to the gas station and it started right up. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?  I have driven the car very little, maybe short 10 minute drives at the most since then.  I have not had any problems, but can not risk getting out on the highway by myself and the car quit on me.  Thank you.  Jo Ann Craig

Answer
Did you take the car to the dealer and have them check the car out on the computer? The only way to diagnose this problem is with the right equipment. It almost sounds heat related. When the car gets warm the sensor is shutting down the car as if it has detected a problem. When it cools down it starts right up. Take the car to a reputable repair facility that has the right equipment to work on the later Benzes. Good Luck.
