MG Car Repair: trans conversion, clutch slave cylinder, t5 gearbox

Question
I'm almost done installing a T5 into my 1979 mgb and have done the hard work without buying a kit ( was even able to keep original bellhousing, starter, pressure plate and clutch slave cylinder) The problem is I no longer have a switch on the tranny to activate the vacuum advance solenoid. The T5 replaced the stock 4 speed. California car emissions stock engine. Any thoughts on a way to rig the shifter so it advances in 4th and 5th gears automatically.
Thanks. Stan

Answer
Hi Stan.

Well done.  I admire what you have done.

The MGB gearbox that you removed had a TCSA switch built into it.  Unfortunately, the T5 gearbox does not have any provision for such a switch (unless you can fabricate one).

I would recommend that you fit a manual switch (possibly with a warning light).  Leave it switched on whenever the car is tested, and turn it off when you want to enjoy the car.
