MG Car Repair: MG Midget Dashboard, brake warning light, oil gauge

Question

MG Midget Dashboard   Hi Howard:

I'm repairing a 1975 MG Midget and I would like to know what is the small red light, kind of a switch, which is located just in front of the driver (in the center, between the oil gauge and the fuel gauge)? And what is the small knob in the right next to the choke knob?

Hi Santiago,

The center sw/light is the differential brake warning light. If one of the two brake circuits fails when you step on the brakes that light will light up. The lower switch part of the light is a test switch to see that the bulb circuit is ok.

The round switch to the right is the switch and dimmer control for the instrument lights when the lights are on.
