MG Car Repair: broken hood release cable, mg midget, release cable

HELP !!!!How do I open my hood on my 1963 MG Midget after the hood release cable broke??? I need to get into the engine compartment.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank You. Hap

Yes...this is difficult under any circumstances. You may have to go through the front of the grille. Sorry, I don't have much for you on this one. It is hard in any event. You may be able to hook the end where the cable attaches with a stiff wire... and pull from the side...maybe not.
I know this is not good news but give it a try. They do sell reproduction grilles.
