MG Car Repair: MGB 74 Clutch master ( US), clutch master, rubber seals

Question
Thanks  Barry - removing master was right idea but Yikes! that bottom bolt is impossible to get at. almost lost a hand loosening. Now I hear there is a kit to refurbish the original master? or would you recommend purchase new?
thx PW

Answer
Hi Paul

So long as the bore of the cylinder is not badly scored or corroded it is much more economical to fit replacement rubber seals than to buy a new cylinder.

On the other hand, the reservoir is a tin can and they do corrode badly.  Modern replacement cylinders are now available with plastic reservoirs.  These never corrode and there is the added benefit that you can see the level without having to take the lid off.

Your choice.
