MG Car Repair: ignition, moss europe, steering column lock

Question
walked in one day to find the black circular plate from the back of the ignition on the floor with its tiny ball bearings, copper plates and springs and now realise this is possibly why the key was a little tough to turn before as now it turns freely.
I see no way of securing it back on and no doubt it fell because of the pressure from the turning key.
i find no drawings or references as to either repair or replace.
What arey options in this dliemma ?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Brian

Unfortunately, the ignition switch on a 1970 MGB is not designed to be taken apart and reassembled.  You need a new switch.  It is part number 35 in this diagram:

The switch is held in the back of the steering column lock by a single grubscrew.
