MG Car Repair: replacement keys needed, steering column lock, replacement keys

Question
We have a 1972 MGB that doesn't have keys. How do we get new ones?

Answer
Hi Vicki,

When the car was new the dealer use to log the key numbers and put them in with the owner's manual but that is probably long gone so all you can do is to remove the steering column lock assembly and a door lock assembly and take them to a locksmith. The blanks are usually available at most locksmith.

The only other way is to purchase all new lock assemblies.
