MG Car Repair: distributor oiling felt, engine oil, lubes

Hi Howard, on the 45D4 what lubricant is used on the cam oiling felt inside the distributor.

Hi Al,

I don't think I ever seen any official statement on what to use and I have seen a lot of different lubes put on them over the years. I always use just a few drops of engine oil so it would soak into the felt. I seen some cars come into the shop with grease on them but I liked to use engine oil so it would soak into the felt. I did however put a dab of white lube on the runner of a new set of points as well.
