MG Car Repair: 1979 MGB start problem, coil wire, high tension

Question
Hi,
We powerwashed the engine to clean off oil to see where a leak is and when we went to start the car it tried once and would not try again  we think we may have wet a fuse in the ignition system and shorted it out..can you guide us to which fuses andwhere??
Thanks

Answer
Hi Gerri,

Water has very little effect on any part of the electrical system of the car except the secondary of the ignition system (coil, high tension coil wire, distributor cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs.)

The only other thing you can wet under the hood that can make a car not run is the air filter.
