MG Car Repair: 1976 MG Midget, starter solenoid, tracer wire

Sir, My starter continues to run after the engine has started.  Also the fuel pump sometimes contines to run after the car has been turned off.  Any advice or likely causes?  Thanks, John

Hi John,

You need to test the car at the time of failure. Put a test light on the white w/red tracer wire on the starter solenoid or at the ignition switch to see if the ignition switch is failing.

As for the fuel pump it is mechanical driven by the engine so it can't run after the engine has stopped.

If some one has installed an electric pump you will just have to trace the wires to see where they connected it.
