MG Car Repair: 1971 mgb roadster, dual gauge, copper tube

hi, copper wire broke of temp sender so i drilled the sender and stuck copper wire back in but temp gauge still not working although it did before wher have i gone wrong.

Hi Michael.  I presume you have a UK car with a mechanical `dual gauge'.  The entire system was filled with liquid Ether.  When the copper tube broke, all the Ether vapourised so you now have an empty system.  The gauge will not work unless the system is re-filled and then sealed.  The easiest thing to do is to buy another one, second hand.  Andy Jennings is a specialist MG breaker, and he sells them via his website.
