MG Car Repair: wire spokes, wire spokes, mg midget

I just bought a 1975 mg midget and it has wire spoke wheel on it all pics of a 75 does not have wire wheels was this an option?

Hi Kenneth.  Yes, wire wheels were an option on the MG Midget throughout its production life.  Some people thought that they did not look so attractive on the later cars with the `rubber bumper', so they tended not to be used in publicity shots.  Personally, I think that they are attractive and add value to the car.  

Please check that you have the correct hubs with built-in splines, because some people fit them with bolt-on adaptors, in which case the tyres may rub on the wheel arches when cornering hard.
