MG Car Repair: 741/2 MGB Brakes, cylinder problem, rear drums

Question
On my last run prior to winter my front brakes were sticking badly. When I opened my car this spring, the master cylinder was near empty and the brakes were not sticking and the pedal was near the floor. I filled the cylinder with DOT 3 fluid and pumped the brakes. The pedal is still close to the floor and the fluid has not dropped in the master. Could there be air in the master cylinder that is preventing the fluid from dropping. An added note. When the brakes were sticking, it was not pulling to one side, so I sort of believe it could be a mater cylinder problem
Please advise

Thank You

Answer
Hi Mike,
I agree, I believe it is a master cylinder problem. Also, use DOT 4 and flush the system completely. Be sure to adjust up the rear brakes after removing the rear drums and checking for any signs of rear cylinder leakage. I found that by the time a master cylinder goes bad the whole hydraulic system is not far behind it.
