Hi Barrie

Thanks for your previous assistance.

I have just stripped down the Dual Master Cylinder on my Midget.

Although I was being cautious while stripping out the pistons and springs the part in the picture fell out of one of the cylinders when i was cleaning it.  I know it is the first part to go in and I can figure out which way it goes in but I am not sure which bore it should go into either the brake or the clutch.

Answer
Hi Tony.  Your photo shows the spring retainer.  You should have two of these.  There should be one for each spring, between the small end of the spring and the main rubber cup.  The ears go inside the spring.

You should also have a one-way valve, but only the brake cylinder has one of these.  It is the first thing to go into the bore, and it fits into the large end of the spring.

If you have a workshop manual, there is an exploded diagram on page M8.
